I’ve cut the cantle by hand form thick shell, this is mounted with a lion and two cheeky monkeys. The objects of the monkey’s desire are the Pineapple finials. Hand made gold passementerie tassels are befitting the king of the savannah.

The long black hair is horse. This style of sporran is was very popular in the Victorian era and perhaps even earlier. It’s a very labour intensive way of making a sporran. Bunches of horse hair are hand knotted onto thread and then sewn to a base of hide. In this case instead Highland cow hide was used. It’s often called pleating as layer upon layer of horse hair is lain on top of each other.

The sporran is made from leather tanned using vegetable extract rather than chemicals. The colour is inspired by antique military examples which are red. The lining of the sporran are in green suede. The sporran has credit card slots and a pocket for small change.

Each sporran comes with a grosgrain and leather belt, finished with brass buckle and tip. This grosgrain is the same material traditionally used on lapels of dinner jackets.

All sporrans are made in the British Isles.
