Imagined

Rumour has it that the cummerbund started to be worn in India by British soldiers during the 1800s. The story goes that there was a mix up with a delivery of sword belts and the officers, having nothing to carry their swords on, adopted the method used by the Indians, apparently this stuck and the cummerbund is the descendent.  Who knows if that's entirely true, but I like it.
